Obituary of Elizabeth Faye Brown

Mrs. Faye Sheffield Brown, age 83, of North Pine Run Road, Boone, passed away Monday morning, January 16, 2023 at Watauga Medical Center. Born May 12, 1939 in Watauga County, she was a daughter of William Enoch and Virgie Gryder Sheffield. Faye was a member of Rutherwood Baptist Church and for many years served actively in the kitchen every Sunday morning preparing breakfast for the church family. She retired from food services at Watauga High School in 2001 and was affectionately known by the students as 'The French Fry Lady'. Caring for and loving her family was Faye's main focus in life. She often would be in the family kitchen surrounded by grandchildren and great-grandchildren baking or preparing meals. Faye also enjoyed gardening and quilting. She is survived by her son, Franklin Brown of Boone; her daughter, Kathy Hamby and husband, Jimmy, of Deep Gap; grandsons, Jordan Brown and wife, Lindsey, Victor Hamby and wife, Emily, Jimmy Hamby and wife, Colby, and granddaughter, Alisha Woodall; great-grandsons, Shaun Bruno, Mason Brown and James Stines; great-granddaughters, Kinsley Brown, Hannah Bruno, Amsley Hamby, Ella Hamby, Catherine Hamby, Adelaide Hamby, and Kira and Olivia Beasley. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Junior Brown and wife, Earline; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis F. Brown; brothers, William and Roscoe Sheffield; and sisters, Christine Gendreau, Myrtle Lawson, Virginia Irene Sharp, Nancy Barbosa and Dollie Isaacs. Funeral services for Faye Brown will be conducted Friday morning, January 20, 2023 at 11 o'clock at Rutherwood Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Tim Dockery, Rev. Bud Russell and Mr. Tim Moretz. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 o'clock, prior to services, at the church. Graveside services will follow in the Rutherwood Baptist Church Cemetery.
