Obituary of Cleo Bentley

Cleo Jean Bentley, formerly of Boone, NC, passed on Tuesday January 3, 2023 in Eastover, North Carolina. Born October 4, 1932 in Watauga County to Hubert Glen Thomas and Sarah Jane Johnson. Cleo spent her free time indulging in one of her various hobbies, she was a talented quilt maker and cook. She took great pride in her garden and loved spending time flower gardening. Cleo was also a caregiver who devoted her career to helping others. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Bentley retiree from Boone Police Department; daughter Jane Bentley formerly of Boone, NC; brother, Clint Thomas; sister, Shirley Brown; brother-in-laws, Harvey Hodges and Jerry Farmer. Cleo is survived by her son, Michaelmand his wife, Kathy Bentley of Lumberton, NC; grandsons, Michael Bentley Jr. and James Bentley both of Hickory, NC; and granddaughters, Pamela and her husband Braxton Forbis of Hudson, NC; Nicole Lockley of Pembroke,NC; April and her husband Robert Hunt of Fairmont, NC; great grandsons, Gabriel Forbis of Hudson, NC; Daniel Lockley of Fairmont, NC; Trevor Jacobs of Pembroke, NC; Jordan Lockley of Fairmont, NC; great granddaughters, Alexa Hall of St. Pauls, NC and Dayla Atkins of Fairmont, NC; sisters, Reba Hodges of Sugar Grove, NC; and Linda Farmer of Mountain City, TN; brother, Robert and his wife, Van Thomas of Burnsville, NC; and brother-in-law, Jim Brown of River Hills, SC.; one great great grandson and three great great granddaughters; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Services will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at the Austin and Barnes Chapel with a visitation from 11:00AM to 12:00PM
