I was saddened to hear of Alec's passing. He was a friend of mine before he was a Judge and he was the only person running for office that I ever posted a sign for in my business. He was a good person I was proud to know. I pray for the best for his family during this difficult time and may God Bless.

Alec and I shared years together on the bench when we were both chief district court judges of our western north carolina districts. He was a great jurist and, above all, a kind friend whose memory I will always treasure. Gary Cash, Asheville

Alec was always a friendly person with such a sweet smile. He officiated at our son’s wedding along with Fr. John Schneider more than 19 years ago. Alec was a beautiful and kind man inside and out. May the Lord bless Brenda and his family.

Please accept our deepest condolences on your loss. Our paths did not cross very often, but on those occasions, usually walking in the park with our dogs, the Judge was always friendly and courteous even in the later stages of his life. We did not have the pleasure of knowing him professionally, but we will certainly remember those personal moments in the park.
Sincerely, Fred and Jessie Schmitt

I am honored to have worked for Judge Lyerly for 18 years. He was not just a boss but a family friend and wise Christian counsel that I could always turn to. I know I will meet him again in our Heavenly home. I love you Brenda and you and Kier are in my prayers.
