I've known Grady for close to 25 years, as a competitor in the graphic arts industry and more importantly as a friend. We met at Washington Printing Supplies, Grady with his warm smile and professional manner, made it easy to enjoy working with him. Later as competitors, he was always gracious and friendly whenever meeting at industry events or customer sites. A true gentlemen that I will miss.

My thoughts are with all of you today and into the future... a future made better because of the example and love of Grady and those who loved him. I appreciate Keith letting me know so I could write a personal letter to a best employee in the history of the Whichard Building. East Carolina University, Scott Hall, and I are better because of knowing Grady through all these years. Whether he was building a Pirate Ship float on top of an old Mercury with Scott Ross and others in his department, Grady made that experience even better. Whether leading others by his example, he also made the future better. I appreciated and value our phone calls and friendship...

I still can’t believe today we are gathering together to celebrate your life, Grady. You were someone I think we all took for granted a little bit because what could ever happen to you? Besides lightning? Teresa, Jonathan, Whitney, and grand babies, we loved Grady hard. He was larger than life and with us in truest meaning of friendship. I never regretted a minute of roadside conversations when he was cleaning out ditches, burning wood, or cutting trees off the road. He loved our boys. And they love him. He always said he was proud of us. And damn, if that wasn’t a compliment I don’t know what is. We love y’all. And we’ll always love Grady. The Ox of the Mountain. Uncle Gravy.

I have been a neighbor of Grady and Teresa's for 12 years. My wife Barbara and I had the pleasure of meeting Grady when we first bought our cabin on the mountain. He was weedeating the road, which he often did, along with his best buddy and sidekick Beaver. We stopped to say hello and introduce ourselves and Grady made us feel very welcome. Over the course of those 12 years Grady got both of our adult children and their families out of ice covered ditches more than once. Always a kind and gracious man. I know of three or four instances when a bad storm would come through and since we are only there part-time, Grady took it upon himself to go up to our cabin and make sure that everything was okay. And this without me asking. He just did it. He was always doing things to help others. On three different occasions when he knew we were coming up, there would be a trailer full of firewood waiting there to greet us. Grady was a giver. Always encouraging, uplifting and generous. I will never forget Grady and the kindness that he has shown to me, to my wife, and to my extended family. I have met very few people like Grady Dickerson. He will be missed.
Thank you Grady. The way you lived and loved others was an influence to me and my family. I pray God's Peace and Grace to those whose life you so greatly touch.

My son, Isaac 12 years old, had become friends with Grady. While I would be in dance class, Isaac would go find Grady and they would spend time doing “man stuff”. One Saturday morning Isaac was upset because Grady told him to be there at 8 AM in his work clothes. Class didn’t start until 10:30. Isaac was worried Grady would be mad. As we pulled into the neighborhood, there was Grady by the pond with a shovel. His big, contagious smile, looking at us and his watch hollering, “You’re late” as Isaac ran from the car over to him ready to work. They hiked all over that property together. Isaac right at Grady‘s heels, ears and eyes open taking in every word, story, and lesson Grady had. One day they took a lunch break and drove to the Cove Creek store and got a foot-long hotdog loaded with chili and cheese. The biggest hotdog Isaac ever had! Isaac remembers grilling out with Grady and Beaver. They were “grilling man food, none of that girly stuff.” This summer Isaac told me he had three favorite men in his life, Grady being one of them. I strongly agree! Thank you Grady for being a strong influence in our lives! You meant a lot to me and my children! We will always remember you! Prayers and Love to Teresa and family.

My heartfelt sympathy is with Theresa, Jonathan, and family. I have only known Grady for three years during our time together at Fuji. He and I became fast friends and as we traveled together on business extensively, had broken bread dozens of times together. He was a unique and engaging soul but most importantly a good friend not just to me, but to all who knew him. May Grady's memory forever be a blessing to everyone he knew and loved. Rest in Peace & Love my friend. JM

Grady was a character for sure. He and I go back a long long time in the printing industry. He could come into a shop and everyone always liked him, and always remembered him as a "straight shooter". He will be sorely missed by everyone here at iTek, and at shops all over this area. We were all saddened by the news of his passing. Prayers and condolences to all of his family.

Grady was someone I just got to know really this year through Teresa. What a great person, bubbly personality and smile! I am so glad to have been fortunate enough to get to know him! Jack and I were just talking about how much we enjoyed both of your company. Especially at the dinner party, where we were able to talk so much with Grady! Teresa I am here if you need me and love you!

I would often ask Grady how it was going especially during the pandemic and he would respond cheerfully ' I could complain but there would be no one listening anyways, so I might as well get on with it '
