Dear Family of Mr. Caldwell,
I worked as a teacher (SLP) with Jim as principal of Sawmills Elementary School. I have only good memories of those days. He was always supportive of my career. I am sorry to learn of his passing. I pray that God will be with you and give you comfort and hope for the days ahead.
Blessings to you, Martha, and to your children and grandchildren. Rachel Earley

Martha and family, I was saddened to hear of Jim’s passing. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was always so encouraging. He always had a “bounce in his step” and a smile for all of us who knew him.
I will keep you and your family in my prayers-prayers for comfort and strength. “Peace be with you.”

The members of Caldwell County Retired School Personnel wish to offer our sympathy at the passing of your loving husband and father, James. Many of our members worked with him during his years of service to the children in the Caldwell County School System. His devotion to education was recognized by everyone. Teacher, principal, sports referee, community supporter, Christian disciple, family man--he was a giant among men. Death may have taken him much too soon, but his influence will live on forever. Martha, we hold you and your dear family in our prayers. ~~Jan Pritchard, CCRSP Secretary

Lifting the Caldwell family up in prayer. When Mr. Caldwell was the principal at Kings Creek School many years ago, he taught a brief course on genealogy. That course sparked my interest in a hobby that has entertained and challenged me for more than 40 years. And it led me to becoming a charter and organizing member of a Daughters of the American Revolution chapter in Lenoir a few years ago. I am so thankful that Mr. Caldwell took time to share his hobby with a bunch of middle-school-aged students.

Martha, Amy, Brian, and family, I have good memories of working with Jim in education. He taught several mentoring classes I attended and I still remember a lot of what I learned from him. I also was fortunate enough to teach both Amy and Brian in the seventh grade at Hudson Middle. Martha, you and Jim certainly raised a fine family and have every reason to be proud of them!
My thoughts and prayers are with you. Gail Dula
