Obituary of Sarah Arnette

Sarah Swift Arnette, age 94, of Clark Swift Road, Vilas, passed away Monday, November 7, 2022 at the Foley Center in Blowing Rock. Born April 29, 1928 in the Cove Creek community of Watauga County, she was the daughter of Clark Swift and Maggie Phillips Swift. Mrs. Arnette was a long-time member of Willow Valley Baptist Church; and retired from Lynhill Child Development Center. Prior to her retirement, she worked at the Cove Creek High School Cafeteria and Phillips Green House. Sarah enjoyed the little things of life and in particular, loved shopping and yard sales. But her favorite activity was visiting people and renewing friendships and acquaintances. Mrs. Arnette is survived by one daughter, Hilda Greer and husband, Tommy, of Vilas; two grandsons, Brandon Greer and wife, Crystal, and Justin Greer and wife, Amy, and two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Hannah Greer, all of Vilas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Arnette; and one brother, Thomas Burton Swift. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon, November 10, 2022, at 1:00 PM, at Willow Valley Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Ray Greene. The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM, prior to services, at the church. Graveside services will follow at the Willow Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.
