Obituary of Sylvia Hicks

Sylvia Bingham Hicks, age 79 of Roby Greene Rd, Boone, passed away Sunday October 30th at her home. Born January 21, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of Stacey Lewis Bingham and Reba Dare Bingham. Sylvia was a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She loved her church family. Sylvia loved her family and always showed that love to them all. She was proud of them all. She was always caring and giving to all she knew but especially her grandchildren. She loved to sew and made many beautiful quilts. In her later years she developed a love for scrapbooking for her family. She is survived by her children, Norman Eugene Hicks and wife Penny of Boone, Diane Hicks Coffey and husband David of Vilas, grandchildren Kelley Denise Parsons and husband Jamie, Dustin James Hicks and wife Macy, Allison Hicks Taylor and husband Cameron, Samuel Logan Coffey and great grandchildren, Blake Allen Parsons, Lucas Martin Parsons, Blaine Bennett Taylor and two more great grandsons on the way. She is also survived by her brother James Lewis Bingham of Georgia. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Everett Eugene Hicks. Memorial services for Sylvia Hicks will be held Friday, November 4th at 1:00pm. The service will be held at Tabernacle Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Gary Watson. The family suggests memorials to Tabernacle Baptist Church, in care of Judy Hampton, 3004 North Pine Run Rd., Boone, or to Medi-Home Health and Hospice, 400 Shadowline Drive, Suite 102, Boone.
