Obituary of Mark L. Cornett
Please share a memory of Mark to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On July 27, 2014, Heaven gained a new angel as Mark Lee Cornett went to be with our Lord and Saviour. Mark passed peacefully surrounded by his family, and, as he drew his last breath, he had a little grin on his face. In his new heavenly body, he was able to run into the waiting arms of his mother, Jane Brown Cornett. What a reunion this must have been!
Mark was born June 3, 1965 in Watauga County, and was a member of Zionville Baptist Church. He is survived by his father and step-mother, Allen and Carrie Cornett of Zionville; brothers, Michael Cornett and wife, Sandra, and Jeff Cornett and wife, Linda, all of Zionville, and Shawn Cornett and wife, Loretta, of Boone; step-brother, Jim Phillips and wife, Kathy, of Vilas; step-sister, Kathy Phillips of Vilas; nieces, Dakota and Crystal Cornett; nephew, Tyler Cornett; special aunt and uncle, Jean and Everett Cole of Vilas; step nephews Chris and Timmy Baird and Travis Phillips; aunts, Pearl Palmer of Zionville and Geneva Morgan of Streetsboro, Ohio; great-aunt, Mabel Guy of Maryland; and several cousins.
Mark was a blessing to all who met him! His smile could light up a room. He loved his family, going to church, and sitting outside in his rocking chair. He will forever live in our hearts.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 31, at 11 AM, at Zionville Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Derek Wilson, Rev. Dwayne Tester and Rev. Charlie Martin. Burial will follow in the Zionville Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 until 8:30 PM at Austin & Barnes.
