Obituary of Bobby Lee Lewis

Bobby Lee "Bob" Lewis, age 77, of Little Laurel Rd. Boone, passed away Friday evening July 25, 2014 at his home. Born December 26, 1936 in Watauga County, he was a son of Grover Harrison and Mary Miller Lewis. Mr. Lewis was of the Methodist faith. Bob enjoyed farming and gardening, and his favorite pastime was chopping and splitting wood. Mr. Lewis is survived by three sisters, Emma Gentry and husband, J.R., of Boone, Effie Hampton of Fleetwood, and Cleo Craig and husband, James, of Blowing Rock; brother, Lloyd Lewis and wife, Pat, of Todd; his aunt, Irene Reese of Zionville; a number of nieces and nephews; and special caregivers, the Ronnie Jones family of Boone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Clawson Lewis; son, Wayne Robert Lewis; sister, Verlie Lewis; and two brothers, Bynum and Robert Lewis. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday morning, July 30th, at 11 o'clock, at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Bud Russell and Rev. Larry Young. The family will receive friends Wednesday morning from 10 until 11 o'clock, one hour prior to services, at Austin & Barnes. Burial will follow in the Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.
