Merita Ruth Watson Crisp, age 72, of Boone, and formerly of Edgemont Road, Collettsville, passed away Monday evening, July 21st, 2014, at Glenbridge Health Care. Born April 29, 1942 in Ashe County, she was a daughter of Fred and Mattie Greer Watson. Ruth was a member of New Hopewell Baptist Church in Carey's Flat and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Crisp is survived by two sons, Joe Crisp and wife, Lisa, and John Crisp, all of Vilas; daughter, Rita Crisp Rowland of Otto, NC; three grandchildren, Joel Crisp of Vilas, Joey Rowland of Otto, and Sandy Greene of Zionville; two great-grandchildren, Emily and Carson Eggers, both of Zionville; and one brother, Burl Watson of Granite Falls.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Ray Crisp; and three brothers, Jay, Tony, and J.D. Watson.
Graveside services will be conducted Thursday morning, July 24, 2014 at 11 o'clock at the Ray Crisp Cemetery in Collettsville, officiated by Rev. Lee Reece.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations to the Ruth Crisp Funeral Fund, be given in care of Austin & Barnes Funeral Home, 194 Queen Street, Boone, NC 28607.
