Gary Ervin 'Homer' Potter II, age 35, of Potter Town Road, Todd, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2022. Born November 18, 1986 in Watauga County, he was the son of Dovie Canter Evans and the late Gary Irvin Potter. A kind, good hearted man, Gary loved his family, especially his children. He was a man with a quick wit and sense of humor and easily made many close and loyal friends, including Mrs. Gail Maine, a lady he respected and admired. Gary enjoyed his church family at Elk Knob Baptist Church, roaming the mountains fishing and deer hunting, and especially tinkering with an old car.
He is survived by three daughters, Peyton Lynn, Sara Rose, and Kaylee Grace Potter, and step-son, Joshua Christopher McTosh, and the mother of his children, Rosalee; his mother, Dovie Canter Evans of Todd; sister, Jeanette Johnson and fiancé, Johnathan Phillips, of West Jefferson; step-sister, Cassie Trivette of Todd; grandmother, Caroline Canter of Todd; step-mother, Beth Potter of Todd; and mother-in-law, Ruby Lipford of Todd. A number of aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Irvin Potter; step-father, Ronnie Evans; maternal grandfather, Harvey Canter; paternal grand-father, John Denver Potter; and paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Stanley.
Funeral services for Gary Ervin Potter II will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, September 27, 2022, at 2 o'clock at Elk Knob Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor
J. C. Greene. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o'clock, prior to services, at the Church. Graveside services will follow in the Main Cemetery. At other times, friends may call at the home of Dovie C. Evans, 256 Potter Town Road in Todd.
