Obituary of William Sutton Barber

Boone, North Carolina - William "Bill" Sutton Barber passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on July 30, 2022 following a courageous battle with cancer. Bill was born and grew up in Charlotte, NC attending Myers Park High School and graduating from Virginia Episcopal School (1961). He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (1967). Bill had a long, successful career in the Charlotte area as a Marketing and Sales leader. During that time he worked for various large corporations; IBM Corporation, PCA International, Fritch Butterfield Company, Prime Equities and Goodyear & Associates. Over the years Bill had many hobbies and outdoor activities that he enjoyed, especially boating, water skiing and sailing. The game of golf was his lifelong passion, with winning the 2008 SCGA Super Senior Championship as one of his cherished golf highlights. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Mickie S. Barber and his two devoted daughters Lawson Evrenidis (Basil) of Pittsboro, NC and Lesley Toutain (Stephan) of West Hartford, CT; step-children Justin Parlier (Amy) of Boone, NC and Natasha Beachum (Jerry) of Monroe, NC; grandchildren Jonathon Powell, Ashley Powell, Chloe Toutain, Winston Toutain, Loic Toutain, Brandy Shook, Derik Beachum (Alexis) and Jake Beachum. Bill is also survived by his loving sisters Ann Foust of Charlotte, NC and Joan Davis (Dr. Dave) of Atlanta, GA as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Sadly, Bill was predeceased by his first wife, Judith LeShanna Barber, as well as his parents Howard (Red) and Eleanor Barber and his sister, Margaret "Peggy" Fehrs. Bill will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held in Boone, NC at a later date.
