Obituary of Thomas Councill

Thomas L. Councill Jr. of Boone, NC passed away on July 19, 2022 of cardiac arrest while at Kindred Hospital. Born and raised in Boone, Tommy loved the mountains dearly. He was a well-known barber and cut hair at several shops and country clubs in Boone and Banner Elk throughout his life. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed good music and socializing. He was happy spending time outdoors on a motorcycle, boat, or golf cart with his family and friends. He loved cooking and watching cooking shows in his later years. He is survived by his wife, Lee Councill, son Tim Councill (Cindy), daughter Lynlee Davis, brother Jimmy Councill, sisters-in-law Wanda Councill and Kathy Clymer, and brothers-in-law Tom Clymer and Steven Clymer, 5 grandchildren, & several nieces and nephews. There will be a receiving of friends in the Meadow View room at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Boone NC on August 2nd from 3-4 pm with a short service to follow. Due to his love of animals, donations to the Watauga or Avery County animal shelters would be appreciated in lieu of flowers, as well as donations to the national Multiple Sclerosis Society. The family is being served by Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services of Greensboro.
