Johnny, Marie and family, I'm so sorry for your loss! I remember there were so many times I traveled up those steps. I remember when we were young and Marie and I would go in the door, Ms. Mary Will could always tell if we were been in trouble or not. If so, we would get a very strong reprimand, just with her eyes! She was a wonderful woman and I have fond memories of her!
Love you guys!

We stayed with Mrs. Young back in the late eighties on our way to Georgia. She made us feel so welcome.! She opened her home to us and made us feel like part of the family. It was as if we had known her a long, long time I wish we had been able to stay longer. Her presence was so vivid I can still hear her voice in my head. We hope happy memories will comfort you, and we are sure she knows how much she was loved.

Ms. Honolou’s name was rarely used in reference to this sweet lady, she was always referred to as “Momma”, and I only had the pleasure of meeting her once, but through the memories shared by her family, I learned that she will always be one of my greatest heroines. The memories and sentiments expressed by her loving family pay tribute to the love and nurturing they knew growing up. The strength and perseverance of a devoted mother is so evident in their memories. This I know about her, she was strong, fun-loving, responsible, compassionate and devoted. She was the kind of mother we all need, and the kind of person this world needs more of. She was loved in life, and will forever live in the hearts of those who knew her. I wish I had had the opportunity to have known her more personally, but her legacy is one of love and nurturing, and I am blessed to have even heard about it.

On a trip to Boon with John I met his dear mother. I only met Ms Young one time but I saw immediately that she was a kind and gentle soul. I'm reminded of a song "Hall of Fame for Mamas". A couple of the lines went like this, "There ought to be a hall of fame for mamas, the world's most unique and precious pearl." And "The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world". I feel as if I knew her well because I had heard so much about her. If she could come back for just a minute and if we could ask her if she could be where she is now or where she was a few weeks ago, I think we all know the answer to that. Even though she had to leave her beautiful family behind, she will surely see them again. Just knowing the members of her family that I know shows what an amazing person she was.
