Robert and I became friends when we were both on the JV basketball team as freshmen at Appalachian High School. We remained friends ever since and re-connected with Robert and Judy when my wife Nancy and I returned to NC and bought a home in Fleetwood. We often saw Robert and Judy after that, and we delighted in swapping stories about kids and grandkids, visiting Dollywood, and enjoying local events together.
Robert was a lifelong friend and a treasure who brought something very special to my life. He is physically gone but lives in my heart and mind with the beauty that love, good friendship, and good memories bring.

I must say it was a blessing to reconnect with Robert and Judy a few years ago. They were such an inspiration to me! I enjoyed our weekly lunches at Mike's Seafood, especially Robert's jokes and his great wisdom. He was indeed a true gentleman, who loved Judy and their family. I considered him to be one of my best friends, as well as Judy! This world lost an outstanding man! I'm sure he is enjoying heaven and telling jokes and other stories! I look forward to reuniting with him again when my turn comes to leave this earth. Until then, we must tarry on and cherish all the good memories of Robert. May God bless Judy and the family and carry them on through life. Love to all!

Oh how I will miss the earthly presence of this person. I have so many fond memories of times spent together, meals shared and celebrations attended. Robert always had the most peaceful presence and put everyone at ease around him. Of course he was always ready to "pull a prank", tell a joke and impart his "words of wisdom". Each time he and Judy entered the door of our gatherings my smile got bigger and brighter. So very thankful to have known and shared so many special times with Robert and Judy and their family. May God give each family member comfort today and in the days to follow. Treasure all your wonderful memories and recall them often.
With sympathy, prayers and love, Joyce L. McNeill and family

I love and miss Bobby. I have fond memories of playing with him when I was young when I went up to see Grandma Gragg. I did not have anyone to play with and I would play with Bobby and Larry. Bobby taught me to ride a bicycle. I enjoyed riding their pony Minnie. I did not see him often after Grandma died in 1965 as he was busy with his life and I was busy with mine. It was always a joy to see him as he always had a joke and words of wisdom. I would see him at the grocery story buying bananas for the employees at Cheap Joes as he said they wanted the employees to eat healthy. He was a good man, intelligent man, and loved life. He was so good to his parents and family. My condolence from your cousin, Donna Gay
