I spent a lot of time with David. He and I were on a truck together during Operation Iraqi Freedom back in 2004 - 2005. He was a wonderful man and a great friend. He is the reason I own a 1971 VW Beetle today. We talked for hours on end about cars and family. We stayed in the same tent together, went to chow together, went to the PX, shower facilities. He was a true friend. It is with tears as I write this that I say so long to a great friend and a brother. God Speed brother. God Speed!

Glenda, there's nothing me or anyone could say to ease the hurt of losing someone like Dave. I loved working with him hearing about everything from growing up to the times with Wiley. I know he liked telling me about Albert & Ethel since I knew them since I was a kid. Having had the twins at Head Start he kept me up on them. We had fun talking about the pranks he pulled & how he could always hold a straight face. I miss seeing him here & I had so much fun visiting y'all at your house. I honestly can't believe he's gone now. I'm thankful for having known him, for knowing all of you. Dave had a way of making you laugh when things seemed at their worst. I know he won't be forgotten & I know for all you've done to take such good care of him he's always gonna be there with you. Dave is a true loss but rest easy he will always be in a lot of memories smiling like he always did.

I will miss Dave a lot, especially all the good times talking and watching him get away with his pranks at work. He was a master when it came to good hearted humor, and could get away with things no one else ever could. I know he is in a better place now, but I will pray for all his friends and family anyway. Until we meet again soldier - respect and thank you for everything you have done for this country! God Bless

It as best as I can recall November 2003 I was in the Lowe's food parking lot and I saw Dave in the parking lot as usual we spoke and talked about family and he mentioned just loosing his mother to say the least we cried that day as we got closer to deployment I lost my Dad we talked we cried that day. Well we were both in the situation where we could of stayed home and not deploy to Iraq but we decided to go. Many times we discussed our Mom and Dad while were in the combat zone for 13 months and we could feel there presence with us every day. 2 40 plus year old men at what an experience!!!! Well Dave was a great soldier and his actions saved many lives over there. When a Convoy is stoped it is the most vulnerable time for something really bad to happen. Dave was always the first to get out of his truck to insure that we got the vehicle fixed and was able to roll again quickly. His a actions is why I am still here today. When the convoys were over me and Dave would always get together and talk about God and family. We had a lot of young people with us over there many of them never had been away from home and you could see just how scared these youngins we're. So they always would look to us older guys for reassurance . I guess that is when alot of the pranking begin. I thought I was good but lol Dave was the best I have ever seen. Know this our pranks together could not be touched by anyone and we never done them to bad anyone just to put a lot of laughter instead of depression in our soldiers life during a very scary time. All the soldiers I have served with are my brothers and sisters but Dave was my special brother we talked about things we would never talk to others about. We cried together and talked about our on personal fears together because we could not show that to our families, our younger troops only to each other. I am so blessed to have had the honor of calling you my best friend. I know the past 5 years has been very tough on you and me but anytime I think of Dave Osborne I will smile because when together me and you were smiling laughing cutting up and trying to look out for the other guys and gals it was never about us. I know you are in heaven bud give my Dad your Mom and Grand Pa Albert a hug for me. I will see you guys again some day but like I always said I am going to try to hang around till I am 120 so I can get some of that free democrat money that is owed me. Heaven got alot more happier when you arrived and I promise I will see you again and we will do the Psalms 91 together again and then lol the fun begins double trouble pranking and joking and cooking out for the whole family. You just know my friend many tears have been shed down here because we lost a great man and I know we lost a hero too . My memories of our friendship will never leave my mind. As I would say in Iraq See you later Tigger your friend your brother Gorgeous Gary aka civilian world Santa Clause. RIP my brother and save a place at the table for me. Glenda and the whole Osborne family I am so very saddened for our loss but like I said Heaven got a lot happier and we all will meet again!!!
