Mrs. Betty Jo Church Lawrence, age 71, of Tater Hill Road, Zionville, passed away Friday morning, June 6, 2014 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Born November 16, 1942 in Watauga County she was a daughter of the late Enoch and Josephine Hicks Church. Betty was of the Baptist faith and was retired from ASU. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Pat �Chub� Lawrence, two sons, Tony Dyson and fiance' Jeanie McNickle of Mountain City, Tennessee and Jeff Dyson and wife, Judy of Union, South Carolina, four grandchildren, Robert Masterson, Sarah Schweizer, Dustin Dyson and Tiffany Dyson, five great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kyle, Danielle and Natalie Schweizer and Christian Dyson, four sisters, Anna Mae Miller of Lenoir, Janie Fox of Zionville, Margie Brown of Creston and Wanda Shelton and husband Jack of Vilas, and four brothers, Charlie Church and wife Shirley of Vilas, Marion Church and wife Kathy of Mountain City, Bill Church and wife Phyllis of Deep Gap, and David Church and wife Elaine of Trade, Tennessee; and a very special friend, Carolyn Lawrence. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death an infant daughter and a daughter Angie Lawrence and one sister, Edna Henson. Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Jo Church Lawrence will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 12:30 at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Allan Perry and Rev. Rector Henson. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday prior to the funeral from 11 o�clock until 12:30 at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
