Clarence Edmond 'Frog' Greene, age 96, of Antioch, Tennessee, native and former resident of Watauga County, passed away August 28, 2021 at Good Samaritan Health & Rehab Center in Antioch. Born May 27, 1925, he was a son of Abner Bedford and Betty Culler Greene. Mr. Greene served nearly three years in the US Army during WWII as a Sergeant and with the Military Occupational Specialist as a section leader. He worked as a police officer for the Town of Boone for a time then as a Sergeant in the security office of Nashville Technical School. Mr. Greene was a member of the Local 257 American Federation of Musicians for 40 years. Frog played the guitar, banjo, mandolin and bass, as well as singing lead and harmony. In 1945 he and Doc Watson opened for a Bill Monroe show playing in Boone. He played regularly for a square dance group in Blowing Rock with Doc Watson and banjo player Henry Cook. Frog always loved telling stories and enjoying a good joke. Graveside services with military honors provided by the American Legion Post 130 will be conducted Sunday afternoon, October 17th at 3 o'clock at the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church Cemetery in the Meat Camp community.
