Beth was an amazing person, and I learned so much from her in just how to live life starting when we were neighbors and then continuing as friends. I remember fondly lunches at her home and J.J.'s home, and I loved passing her zipping around in her little car in Boone--Beth was always on the go, usually doing something good for others. She will be missed.

I worked for Beth for several years as children's librarian in Boone NC. She was driven to make the library the best it could be, and was dedicated to make me the best I could be as well. I will always remember her as a supportive, encouraging mentor who believed in me and my future in library science before I (or anyone else) did. She wasn't always easy but she was most often right. I'm grateful to have had her in my life.

Beth Mueller came into our lives in the late 1960's as a librarian friend of my mom Jan McDermed's (then Jan Heiner.) Very quickly she became a cherished friend and surrogate aunt to my brother John and me. Her intelligence, kindness, joyous positivity, huge smile, and warm hug are what I cherish most in many memories of Bethy. In 2017 my mom and I were able to take one last trip to Boone to stay with Beth and have a good visit. Touring Old Salem with two well-over-80 librarians with crackling senses of humor and more-than-a-little attitude was a special experience that I will never forget. Vaya Con Dios dear friend, you will be so missed. Sarah Heiner Port Townsend

Beth joined our house church group called Shekinah Gathering many years ago. It was a delight to hear her opinions about matters being discussed. In addition to being so scholarly, she was a visual treat to behold. I admired her always being dressed "to the nines". She was a welcomed presence in all the communities she served and took seriously the challenge to "Blossom Where You are Planted." To say she will be missed is an understatement.

Beth was a kind, warm-hearted, generous woman who will be missed. She made a difference in her retirement in NC! So sorry we won't be able to attend her funeral since our grandson is graduating in Seattle then.

Beth was one the kindest, gracious and humblest patients I’ve ever had. I will surely miss her!
