Mr. Alvin J. Presnell, age 73, of Rush Branch Road, passed away Sunday evening, April 27, 2014 at Johnson City Medical Center. Born in Watauga County April 9, 1941, he was a son of the late John and Gladys Yates Presnell. Alvin was retired from ASU. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed being outside, and raising a garden to share with others. Alvin especially enjoyed his grandchildren and his family.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Harmon Presnell, two sons, Bruce Presnell and special friend Kendra Rawls of Zionville, and Chip Presnell and wife Tina of Sugar Grove, two grandchildren, Caleb Presnell and Makenzie Presnell, three sisters, Irene Cook and husband Russell of Lenoir, Pauline Harmon and husband Cecil of Banner Elk, Gwen Wagner and husband J. R. of Mountain City, and one brother, Paul Presnell of Banner Elk.
Funeral services for Mr. Alvin J. Presnell will be conducted Friday morning, May 2, 2014 at 11 o�clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Quincy Norris, Rev. Eric Cornett, Rev. David Icenhour and Rev. Russell Cook. Burial will follow in the Green Valley Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Green Valley Cemetery Fund, in care of Harold Harmon, 269 Council Ward Road, Sugar Grove, NC 28679.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 o�clock until 8 o�clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
