Dear Pat –
I sure miss you. It has not sunk in yet. You are my dear friend, my sister in Christ, a prayer partner, a prayer warrior and my compadre in adventures. Wish we had had more time. There are SO many things I love about you and will miss but most of all just being able to give ya a big hug. I will try and tell you a few of the things I love about you. Just don’t go getting all big headed.
I love the way you spontaneously burst into song – an old hymn or gospel. I apologize for the times I turned the radio up, but it gave us a good laugh. I love that as long as you are feeling well you are always up for an adventure – most times just driving around the mountains finding roads we have never been on. There were times on the outings you had to call on the Lord. I really am a good driver I just like to look at the scenery too. I love the fact that no matter where we go, you always either know someone or stop and talk to people, especially those with little kids. You just do it naturally and probably don’t know it, but you exude Christ when you stop and talk to His people. Really! I love your big bright smile that is SO beautiful but also mischievous and a bit wicked – but in a good way. I saw that wicked smile sometimes when we were playing cards or dice. Hhhhmm. I love that we can talk about the Lord, the Bible and most everything under the sun and that it is easy. We don’t have to work at. That is really rare. I love that you cherish family and friends and the Lord. You really are an inspiration to me and I know that I am a better person for being your friend. Again, don’t get a big head over it. I know you are not perfect and neither am I. I love that you are confident in your walk with the Lord and you are comfortable with who are. That is probably why it is just easy to be around you and always uplifting. Your laughter makes me happy, even when it is not appropriate – i.e. at my expense. But you laugh at yourself a lot so I can’t find fault. There are so many things I love about you, Pat, but I will wrap this up.
I know you are with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I know I will see you again in heaven. Until then I will try and live like I saw you live – joyfully and fully, loving family and friends and welcoming new friends into your life. I love ya, Pat Hicks!
Your sister in Christ, Andrea League

This GodGiven Lady!!! She was capable of making you feel loved when you felt you were nothing. She was my Godsend, so many times. No matter what, and no matter who held something against me, she was there to lift, pray and hug tight. My babies were hers, she loved us all so much. I’m so grateful that God put her in my life. She is one of a kind, and I’m thankful I got to be her girl.
