I'll never forget growing up in Mill Creek, WA, meeting the Mainard family through the Mill Creek Country Club, playing tennis with Warren, and being invited to their home for sleepovers and video games (they had the coolest sound-proof room, and Warren and I played Legend of Zelda 2 all night!), as Warren and I were of similar age. Chuck was ALWAYS so kind, loving, genuine. I will never forget his tone; it was so very welcoming and caring, and was impactful to me as a young man, as I did not grow up with a very active father in my life. Chuck even invited me on family ski trips, and my mother, sister, and I were invited to visit them in Florida when they moved to stay in their lovely home, many years ago.
Even though it has been well over two decades since I have seen any of the Mainards, I look back with such fondness and gratitude for how their entire family embodied the love of Christ, taking the lead from Chuck. He is now Home, singing with choirs upon choirs of angels, free of pain and suffering for all time. Thank you, Chuck, for your exemplified care, as small as your involvement in my life appeared to be, it has undoubtedly impacted me forever.
