John, Jeff, and families,
We send our deepest condolences to you in the loss of your father, father-in-law, and grandfather. When we think of Tom, we picture him with a smile and a calm, pleasant presence which was a gift to any group he was in. Tom and Dorit and you boys were such a blessing to our congregation at MacPherson while you were there, and we surely did enjoy your friendship.
We are praying for you all as you adjust to the loss of both your parents within so short a time.
May God bless you and give you great comfort and peace now and always.
With our love and our prayers,
Roger and Mary Mac McLean

Jan and I now live in Florida and have not seen much of Tom and Dorit. My last visit was October of 2019 before we headed south to Florida from Spruce Pine. Tom and I were part of a loose group called "the flying fools, mostly fools" back in the Fayetteville days. I just developed a great affection for Tom and his ways and have always thought the world of him. We just had a chemistry that kept us laughing and in great spirits. We certainly covered the bases from airplanes to life-all of it a treasure of memories through each of our journeys. Your dad was a gift to me and I cannot tell you how much I will miss him even though we did not see much of one another in the last few years. I know God is with he and Dorit together and in good health in their new home. My heart felt condolences.

If you would please send me the address or the name of the cemetery in Shallotte. When I journey that way I would like to pay my respects to them.
I remember discussing the family reunion down in those parts!

I was blessed to be a caregiver for Ms. Dorit and Mr. Tom for the past two years. I have many fond memories with each of them and their families. Ms. Dorit and I shared many talks, prayer concerns and blessings. She was a Godly woman who wanted everyone to know Christ. Mr. Tom was a gentle giant. He loved ketchup on almost everything he ate. Ms. Dorit told me he ate ketchup on his ketchup and that was pretty much true. As his dementia progressed he had days he could not remember simple task, but he never forgot his VW parts. He will be missed by many people but his legacy as the VW man will be forever remembered. I just want to say "thank you" to John, Jeff, Mary, Jennifer, and their children for allowing me to be part of their family.

Tom ( and Dorit) were some of our family’s favorite people. How kind they were to open their home to our life group. To speak about God’s Word and to grow ... no matter the age. They will always be remembered fondly by our family.
