My very first contact with Cheri was in 1987 when we began attending Advent Lutheran. She spoke to me out in the parking lot and was so friendly that she quickly persuaded me to get involved in the Social Ministry Board, which sponsored outreach projects such as CROP Walk and making egg salad sandwiches for the homeless. A few years later, I was thrilled when she moved into the house two doors up from mine! I was invited to countless parties at her house, and I used to joke that, if I saw 17 cars or more there, she was just feeding one of her kids' soccer teams - again. Throughout the years she remained a good friend and neighbor, and after she moved to Blowing Rock we met there a couple of times in the summer. Like everyone else who knew her, I loved Cheri. She will be deeply missed.
