I am so sorry to receive the news about Hubert's passing. He, as well as your family, have been a part of our family for so many years. Hubert's love for the North Carolina mountains inspired my own desire move to and live in the mountains as well, albeit in Northern California.
I first met Hubert in his forties when he helped build our house. I was so awestruck with his folkloric qualities of being able to jump from beam to beam and joist to joist like a nimble mountain goat! I also watched in amazement at his ability to drive a nail with two quick swings of a hammer, one to set and one to drive that nail deep into the wood. Hubert inspires the way I live with his love for Joan and family and his appreciation of nature. I will miss seeing him and Josh driving up to our property to hunt or when he would come up and sit a spell on our deck to check-in. Please come visit us in spirit Hubert! Hubert was a great neighbor for the 50 years I can remember. He was always willing to help when needed. I will really miss driving in and out of orchard road always looking for that friendly wave while passing by.

Dear Joan & Family, Both Lisa & my hearts are broken for your loss of such a wonderful man! Hubert was such a loving neighbor from the first time we met him in 2000 when we moved to Orchard Road. He was always ready to help in any way for us. He found the water on our property when no one else could. Always had a smile & a wave as we passed by! I am so saddened about Huberts passing. I would go hunting with him and my dad when I was young. The Golds have been my neighbors as long as I can remember. You could always count on Hubert to throw his hand up as you passed by. You will never meet anybody better then Hubert and Joan.

Brother Hubert and my Sister Joan always sat right behind us. He was a very quiet, humble, Godly man. He sincerely loved The Lord Jesus Christ, his precious wife, Joan, his children and grandchildren, and great grandson Kolt, and his Brothers and Sisters in Christ ! Brother Hubert didn’t pray often, but when he did you could feel the power and Spirit of the Holy Ghost flooding through him, and all of God’s people rejoiced ! Sweet Aunt Joan & Family,
