Jean Bard, my friend and neighbor, is someone I love dearly. Her interest in just about everything was a constant inspiration. She led an interesting life – her world travels, her early married life with George, their years in Wisconsin and in Manhattan Beach. There were so many great stories to enjoy and I learned a lot from her. She was quick to encourage me in my pursuits. She always seemed to have just the right books to lend me. And she sent me research that she had taken the time to dig up on whatever subject I was working on. I owe it to Jean for my newfound interest in genealogy. I learned to make complicated drapes. And due to her influence, I have a designated a day of the week for doing laundry. It fills my heart when I think about the way she loves George, her children and grandchildren. That love extends to her friends and international family. She and George are the best neighbors one could ever hope to have. My husband and I treasure our many years of friendship. And we will never be able to eat a homemade Christmas cookie without thinking of Jean

I was so sad to hear of this news. She was such a sweet lady. I remember my first visit with Jean and George and learning all about their past travels and adventures together. I was drawn in by there knowledge and all the many things they have accomplished throughout their lives together. I could have stayed their all day just listening to them tell story after story. What a Blessing Jean was to this world. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. We love you all and are here if you need anything.

I remember my first Fourth of July in the neighborhood five years ago, standing in the road with Jean and George watching the fireworks way in the distance, just barely over the tops of the trees! And just a couple of years ago, the ice cream party for the neighbors in your back yard.
This neighborhood family will miss you so much. And of course I’ll miss your Christmas cookies too, Jean!
Love to you, and George, and all of the family.
Scott
