I will always fondly remember Mr. Horton. He was one of the first African American Male that I had met who was from Boone when I began dating my Wife, Monica Hagler Williams. Mr. Horton made me feel apart of the Boone Family and for that I will always be thankful and cherish the opportunity I had to befriend him. For the family you have our Prayers and condolences during your time of loss. Mr. Horton will be genuinely missed.
Respectfully,
Maury A. Williams

My favorite memory of David (we called him Strawberry) is at our kitchen counter spinning his stories, having a drink then eating a raw irish potato. He always had a smile and a story. He will be missed. Our condolences to family and friends.

In 1958, when I was 16 years old, I looked forward to seeing him at the gas station on Friday afternoon when he came in from Greensboro. He was one of the most likable people you could ever meet. He kept us all laughing the whole afternoon. Those were good times that I will always remember.
He will be missed and remembered by many. My sincere condolences for your loss.
