Alice was my next door neighbor for about 4 years. She had a neverending amount of energy and I enjoyed our conversations outside about her insurance days. She was always giving my son little gifts to make him smile. We will miss her.

Friends with Alice and Bob for years in Boone. So sorry for your loss. She was a brightly smiling, warm spirit. She and Bob were an engaging couple who complemented each other so well. They were regulars at First Baptist where their absence is keenly felt.
Love and prayers for both and the family,
Larry & Ann Keeter

I worked for Alice when I was fresh out of college back in 1980. She had more energy and zip than anyone I knew! I learned so much from her and always enjoyed being around her. I remember having no plans for Thanksgiving one year, as my family lived in FL, and Alice insisted I spend the day with her and her family here in Boone; that meant so much to me. My most sincere sympathy to Robert and the rest of the family.

Mrs. Denton left a lasting impression at our first encounter. Her smile was not only on her lips but her entire face. Though I was only privileged to know her a short time, her wisdom and advice will stay with me. Mr. and Mrs. Denton's marriage is a testimony of God, Love and Patience. I thank the family for allowing us to be apart of her care.

After moving to Stadium Dr. in elementary school, Alice (Elaine) and I became fast friends and I spent a lot of time at the Denton household. Mrs Denton was a working professional when few other mothers had similar, or even outside jobs. She served as a role model for us. She also made the first sweet(est) iced tea I, a Yankee transplant, had ever tasted! She will be remembered by many in Watauga county and beyond for her many years of service.

Alice became one of my dearest friends when we met in 1996 when my husband Mike & I moved to Boone. Alice & i became BEST friends the first time we met! My given name is Mary Alice & Alice & I never skipped a beat! We were both on the Watauga County Hospice Board & were known for our visits to Boone Businesses to raise money for our Telethone to raise awareness & money for the patients of Watauga County! People would have checks ready for our visits prior to the telethon so they would not have to endure us going on & on about how great Hospice is!!!! Alice & I both LOVE to talk! We were in a community Bible Study with Alice & Robert from the beginning of our arrival to Boone. We were at their 70th Wedding Celebration & as always I learned something new about their success as a couple! Alice loved Robert SO MUCH & vice versa! Almost every time we were together, I saw them hold hands! Robert loved her & showed that love in every thing they did! I will miss her homemade coconut cakes & her every generous love she shared with all were fortunate enough to call her their friend. I love you Alice! Mary Hall

My husband Joe and I met Robert and Alice at a neighborhood Bible study we started attending about 3 1/2 years ago and it was always such a delight to get to be with them. Alice always had great stories and I loved hearing them. The one that amazed me the most was when she told me about how she loved doing cartwheels and that when she was around 82, her doctor told her she should probably not be doing cartwheels anymore because he would be hard on her wrists. Wow! Well Alice I trust you are up in Heaven doing cartwheels around God's throne and I so look forward to you teaching me how to do them with you. My thoughts and prayers are with sweet Robert and I pray that God will tenderly comfort you and your family in your time of sorrow. Alice will be missed until we meet again.

I’ve known Alice Denton for a number of years but my sweetest and most recent memory of her was when she called into R & C Appliance for service. At that time, I didn’t typically answer the phone but on this day, I was covering for our frontline staff. Anyone who knows Ms Denton, knows that she likes to talk, as do I. We had the sweetest conversation about her history with the emphasis on how to have a good marriage. I enjoyed our conversation so much and valued the words of advice that she shared with me. Such a sweet and wise lady! Prayers for peace and healing for your family...

I love Robert and Alice Denton and am so grateful to have gotten to know them through the years. In 2016 I did a feature story on them in a magazine my company publishes called "The Journey." Here's a direct quote from that article that encapsulates why she was such a blessing to those of us who know her: "We have a daily choice to embrace each day anew with grateful hearts to the Lord and to choose joy every day." Happy graduation day Alice!! We shall meet again.

My heart is broken and rejoicing at the same time. I was privileged to be a caregiver for Alice since December 2019. She taught me so much about life, love, and laughter, and how important each of these are. I'll never forget this wonderful woman that God placed in my path of life. Her wisdom will live in my heart forever. Until we meet again, sweet lady.

So sorry for the loss of your dear loved one Alice Denton. Alice was one of a kind! She was always so kind to me and checking on me with a phone call or a sweet written card. When I joined First Baptist church she was one of the first ones to welcome me there and invited me to come join the Contemporary ladies Sunday school class! She had a heart for people and her Lord and Savior! I loved hearing her talk about her life and her accomplishments. She was a woman of strength and someone to look up to. She will be missed by many! Rest In Peace Sweet Alice for you are safe in the arms of Jesus!
