I recognize most of the names on the Tribute Wall because I'm Iva's sister, Joyce Ann, and many of her friends were my friends. She was Ivey to me. Rita said it right. We loved living in Weaverville & going to North Buncombe High & participating in youth activities at Weaverville Baptist. Thank you, Weaverville friends, for attending her beautiful Celebration of Life at First Baptist of Boone. Thank you, JB and Carol, for posting memories, and I remember both of you as Ivey's roommates at ASU. As I would say, she went to ASU and never returned home. She truly loved the Blowing Rock & Boone people. Betty, she spoke fondly of you as her friend. This page would not hold all of my wonderful memories of my Special Sister! Heather, Eric, you have honored Ivey & Jim well with your successes & love to them. Ethan & Eli, you were double sunshine to them, and I'm so happy you enjoyed many fun times together.

I was so sorry to hear of Ivey's passing. You do not know me, but Ivey, JB, and I were great friends and roommates in the early 60s at Appalachian. And yes your dad was Puppy. We had some wonderful times in those mountains. JB and I were in Boone about 3 or so years ago and had lunch with your Mom. It was just like taking up where we were left off the last time we were together.
I remember Ivey and I were at a basketball game and decided to go somewhere. As we left the gym, Ivey said there is "so and so's car, let's take it. People left their keys in their cars in those days. The crooks always brought the cars back. We did and the next day "so and so" said Ivey you drove my car last night. How do you know. He said I could smell your perfume. Did she continue to wear Youth Dew. That perfume was a dead giveaway.
I am sorry for your loss. Your mother was a wonderful person.

My sympathies to the family. You do not know me, but I have many wonderful memories of Ivey. She was always Ivey to our crowd and I was JB. Your Dad was Puppy to us. We were roommates and close friends while attending Appalachian. I last saw her about three years ago and we had fun remembering things from then. She was a lovely person and a joy in my life many years ago.

My memories of Iva Nell are long ago but seems like yesterday. We were at good ole NBHS and Weaverville Baptist Church. I remember her with beautiful red hair and a personality to match. We shared some secrets and did we ever have fun. Joyce Ann this is ours to keep. A heart of gold and a friend to all. Those special teachers and leaders at church taught us to be strong and quiet. Love you and see you in Heaven.
