I have only just learned of the passing of Charlie. He was a dear and treasured friend to my mom and dad, Vera and Woody Richardson, and a man that meant a lot to me as I grew up with First Baptist and through that strong friendship with dad and mom. Charlie was a kind and generous man, and I have nothing but wonderful thoughts of him and his dear Ann. By deepest sympathies to the family on their loss of a true Boone gentleman. Theirs was an amazing generation.

To Mr. Blackburn's family - I loved nothing more than your father bringing tomatoes to me in the summer. I live on Tracy Circle across the street and I loved having Mr. Blackburn as our neighbor. He was frequently bringing us treats from the garden. He reminded me so much of my own father -- in many many ways. He shared his garden of food and his garden of flowers -- I have more than a few things in my yard that came from his. He sweet and kind spirit is missed. I am grateful to have known him even for a short while and to have been the recipient of his story-telling. I am sorry for your loss and hope your memories will sustain you. Susan McCracken

Mr Blackburn was my next door neighbor for many years. He always had good advice. He was helpful in my start in the fire service.
He was there when my father couldn't be

When my father died I was 10 years old. Charlie asked my mother if I could work on the farm that summer, she agreed knowing I needed some male guidance. Charlie, along with his son Chris picked me up in the neighborhood at dawn and we bailed hay until dusk. He taught me hard work, took me to Northwestern Bank and helped me open a savings account, and told me to put an offering in the plate on Sunday, and the rest was mind to buy a Coke and nabs. He invited me to camp with his family and checked up on me throughout my high school years. In college I would stop buy which was during the 70’s gas shortage and he made sure I had gas to travel. I even introduced him to my son, Brad Jr and told him how important Charlie was to me. God bless you Charlie and thank you for the direction you gave me. My prayers for Tena, Chris and children.
