Obituary of Joseph Coy Yates

Mr. Joseph Coy Yates, Jr., age 62 of Vilas, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2019. He was a native and lifelong resident of Watauga County and the son of the late Joseph Coy Yates, Sr. and Marietta McCauley Yates. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Randy and Donald Yates. He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Johnston and husband Josh of Mooresville; two sons, Joseph Yates, III of Boone, and Joshua Yates and wife Jessica of Boone; one brother, Daniel Yates and wife Sherry of Sugar Grove; one sister, Joanetta Huffman and husband Tony of Butler, TN.; two grandsons, Benjamin Yates of Mooresville and Cameron Yates of Boone; one granddaughter, Makayla Yates of Boone. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. Services will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
