Steve:
My prayers and sincere condolences to you and your family for the loss of Kim. I respected her greatly as a landscape architect, and more importantly, as a person. I always found her to be fair and knowledgeable in her work for the City, and she set a high standard. I know she will be missed greatly.

Steve, I'm so sorry to hear of Kim's passing. I will always remember the incredible Christmas goodies that you two would make every year. Kim was an amazing public servant for the city of Jacksonville whose shoes were incredibly hard to fill. She was so kind and always willing to help. She will be missed.

On behalf of the ASLA Florida Chapter, I send my condolences to the family. Kim’s persistent and tireless efforts serving the City of Jacksonville will impact many generations to come. She spearheaded many local code revisions to better our part of the world. I’ll treasure her mentorship; her patience and unbelievable ability maintain a gorgeous orchid within the four walls of her City office. Some Landscape Architects were blessed with a green thumb but Kim was blessed with green hands. Thank you for sharing the beauty of NC and your travels abroad through FB.

I will never forget the afternoon at Kim’s home viewing her pictures of her African Safari. It was something I asked for and she generously shared her time & memories. Kim gave me the itinerary from the trip as it’s on my bucket list and proudly credited Steve for putting the trip together. Will always remember her as a lover of all things in nature.

Kim was always quick to laugh at a lame joke. But then, in a serious moment, she could crack me up with an unexpected zinger. I will never forget her infectious laugh. I love people who have a genuine and spontaneous laugh-that-makes-you-laugh.
That was Kim.

The loss of Kim is great and my heart breaks for Steve and the family. She was an amazing inspiration to many, but couldn't have been as strong as she was without the support and undying care of Steve.
My best memory of Kim is when Colin and I snuck to their house at night and decorated their yard with flamingos and inspirational messages as a fundraiser for American Cancer Society. She was so excited about the surprise and talked about it for years.
Love and Hugs to all her family,
Sandy Gatti

Kim will be missed by both her personal and professional Jacksonville family. Her total dedication to the profession of Landscape Architecture was only exceeded by her love for Steve. Together they were an extraordinary team. Her leadership within our community will always be remembered as impassioned for all that was good. Her zest for the highest quality of life through her appreciation of nature and travel was constantly demonstrated. All of us who knew her have benefited from the lessons she taught us on how to live for what we truly believe was good for our soul.
