It is now July of 2020, in the midst of the Covid 19 Virus; these times make me reminisce about better, more nostalgic times. From time to time I have wondered about the Presslys and how they were getting along. Beth and I used to come to Valle Crucis on many Sundays in the late eighties and early to mid-nineties and we would always dine with Francis and Sibyl in one of their Sunday settings at the Mast Farm Inn. They were always so congenial and accommodating and I miss their company and their food. Reading Francis's obituary, I remember the full life that he led; he will be missed.

It was an honor to know both Francis and Sybil. We stayed at the Mast Inn several times while they were the keepers. We would make it up there each year we visited the area in October and enjoyed the the home cooking that was provided at the inn. Most of all we enjoyed talking with Francis who gave us good advice on running a bb&b. We purchased several of the coffee mugs and the the Mast Inn cookbook that Sybil produced. Rest in Peace my good man

To Sybil and family
Please know you are in our thoughts and that we extend condolences to you all. It was a great privilege for me to have known and worked with Francis over the many years at the National 4-H Council and with the IFYE program. He was an inspiration, mentor and friend and will be remembered by me especially for his smile, enthusiasm, and kindness.
So grateful for his instructions on how to barbecue chicken for large groups!!! What fun we used to have with that.
My best to you in remembering and honoring and celebrating his life !

Sybil and family, I send you my deepest condolences. Francis was a light in my life who gave me a most precious opportunity to grow and learn and hopefully give a little on the way. I am not only a better person but a wiser and more compassionate one, blessed with lifelong friends I cherish, thanks to Francis. I am more grateful than I can say.
Joan and I will be with you tomorrow at the service in Valle Crucis.
Love,
Susan

As I have said in response to Sally and Bill's facebook recollections...It has been a privilege to know Francis and Sybill and work with them in Brazil. They were there when I was hospitalized in Rio and there for leadership and inspiration. Andy and I were blessed to know such a good person who influenced our lives. Condolences to all of the family.

Dear Sibyl, Billy and Sally,
The members of Brazil 6 will always hold Francis, and you, Sibyl, in high esteem. Having someone like the two of you in our corner when we first landed in Brazil was such a comfort, since it was before the days of easy communication with our families back home. We were honored to consider you our family in Brazil, and we have such fond memories of time spent with you there. We will all miss Francis. Even though we didn't get together very often, it was always as if we had just seen you both recently. Thanks for enriching our lives!
Fondly,
DiAnn Pierce

He was a treasured friend from the Ag Club in the '50s on.. We enjoyed a breakfast with them at their bed and breakfast. We had a fascinating tour of their home they had recently decorated.

Dear Sibyl and family,
I first met Francis in 1957 at orientation as an IFYE to Switzerland. He was kind and glad to see everyone. He will be missed but not forgotten by all whose life he touched.
Sincerly,
George Van Nuys

Kathleen and I have loved Francis and the Pressly family since their moving to Valle Crucis in 1985. I had the privilege of designing and installing the landscaping and walkways for them at their beautifully restored Mast Farm Inn in 1985. We have been friends ever since. Numerous times over those early years Francis and Sybil would call and offer a free dinner to our family of 5 (3 little boys at the time) when they had a dinner cancellation at the inn. We always loved them for that kind gesture. I also was privileged to help Sven do some of the work when he was building their beautiful home on the river in Valle Crucis. Francis, you (and Sybil) are my defining person for class, dignity and love. We will miss you.
