I have known Ron most of my life & always enjoyed talking with him. Some of my fondest memories were when, after his diminished eyesight prevented him from driving himself, I was able to drive him out to Beech Creek from his home in east Boone. We chatted about a lot of subjects, including how he lost his eyesight through a surgeon’s errors, but he had no bitterness or anger about it. “It is what it is,” I remember him saying. Once while living in Idaho, I flew to NC & he met me in Greensboro & loaned me his prized red Plymouth Barracuda. It was a stick shift, which I was familiar with in a truck, but not in this car. I tried to drive it like the truck I was used to, and it kept going dead on me. Thankfully, I got educated fast & proceeded on my way. I talked to Ron in May while I was in Boone & we planned to go to lunch but he never did feel up to it. I am glad that I talked to him one last time.

Brian and family, Landon and family and my cousin Jack Fannon,
We are saddened for your loss. I didn’t personally know Ron but my father Harold Fannon always spoke highly of Uncle Ewing’s boys. May the Lord be with you in your grief. I read all of the other condolences and can tell that Ron was a kind and wonderful father, brother and friend. Ron is now with our Heavenly father. All of you are in our prayers.
In Christian Love,
Aunt Rosalie Fannon, Charlie and Johnnie Fannon, LaJuan and Jim Casella, Ramona and Don Cole
