Rickey Bare received his angel wings in his home in the early hours of August 6th in Banner Elk, North Carolina at the age of 63. Rickey is survived by his children, Mark Cruz, and Daniel Cruz both of Detroit, Michigan. Three brothers, Donald Bare and Wife Catherine of Boone, NC; Bobby Bare of Banner Elk, NC; and Steve Bare and wife Mylene of Detroit, MI. He is also survived by two sisters. Colleen Bare of Banner Elk, NC; and Marlleen Bare and partner Patrick Emory of Bellbrook, OH. He is also survived by Grandchildren, Nephews, a Niece, and very close cousins who saw him more like a brother. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Wilma Bare of Banner Elk. As well as brothers Baby-Boy Bare of Detroit, MI, and Gerald Bare of Banner Elk. He also was preceded in death by his loved furry companion Crybaby. Rickey was born on April 19th, 1956 in Detroit, MI. Being the 6th of eight children in a working class family life was not easy for Rickey, but he was surrounded by love. After moving to North Carolina, Rickey began working in construction. He became disabled and spent his remaining years fighting a disability that eventually took his life. Rickey was an amazing artist and poet. He had an almost perfect memory, and would often amaze family with memories the rest of the family had long since forgot. His smile would light up a building, because a room wasnt enough to hold him. He loved the world, the people, the animals, and even the plants. He felt most at home out in nature. Actually he may have felt more at home in thrift stores and yard sales, buying small trinkets that became the gifts he gave his family. It was hard to stop by and see Rickey without him having a gift for you. A private memorial will be held by the family at a undetermined time. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Watauga Humane Society, PO Box 1835, Boone, NC 28607. The family would like to thank Mr. Matthew Ross for his love and effort throughout the last decade.
