Obituary of Elva G. Watson

Elva Greene Watson, age 87, of Wilson Lane, Boone, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at her home. Born July 8, 1925 in Avery County, she was a daughter of Jermie Monroe and Addie Hayes Greene. Mrs. Watson was a member of Flat Springs Baptist Church. She loved cooking, quilting, and tending her flower and vegetable gardens, but was especially fond of children. Mrs. Watson is survived by her son, Scotty Watson and wife, Marilyn, of Boone; and one brother, J. M. Greene and wife, Marketta, of Elk Park. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Watson; one son, Gus Watson; three brothers, Harvey, Smith and Vern Greene; and four sisters, Maude Greene, Hazel Guy, Margie Miller and Wanda Clair. Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon, January 25, 2013, at 1 o'clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Brian Miller and Rev. Tim Greene. The family will receive friends Friday from noon until l o'clock, prior to services, at the chapel. Burial will follow in the Flat Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
