Mrs. Joan Ruth Parlier, age 78, of Joe Parlier Road, Elk Park, passed away Sunday morning, December 9, 2012 at her home. Born in Detroit, Michigan, she was a daughter of the late Otto and Margaret Griffith Waldecker. Joan was a member of Beech Mountain Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She is survived by her children; Arnold Parlier and wife Brenda of Granite Falls, Charles Parlier and wife Willa Deane of Mountain City, Sandra Parlier of Elk Park, James Parlier of West Jefferson, Linda Biggs and husband Gary of Elk Park, and Jeff Parlier and wife Sondra of Morganton, fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren, one brother; Richard Waldecker of Michigan, and two sisters; Gerry Riley and Delores Tyson both of Michigan and a daughter-in-law Alice Parlier of Elk Park. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Sanford Arnold Parlier, one son, Joe Parlier, four brothers; Ernie, Russell, Lawrence, and Edward Waldecker, and three sisters; her twin, Jean Miller Lamothe, Kathryn Oliver and Florence Murray, and two granddaughters; Shannon and Donna Kay Mynes.
Funeral services for Mrs. Joan Ruth Parlier will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o�clock at the Beech Mountain Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Dennis Church and Rev. David Burnop. Burial will follow in the Beech Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery.
