Obituary of Juanita R. Thomas

Juanita Reese Thomas, 91, of Beaver Dam Road, Vilas, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012, at the Watauga Medical Center. Born October 5, 1921 in Watauga County, Juanita was a daughter of Clyde Bunyan and Margaret Hagaman Reese. She was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Mrs. Thomas was a loving wife, a wonderful sister, an exceptional aunt to all her nieces and nephews, and a friend to many. She was a great cook and loved tending her flower and vegetable gardens. Mrs. Thomas is survived by her brother, C. B. Reese and wife, Ruth, of Vilas; three sisters, Annie Moody of Lenoir, Reba Eller and husband, Ted, of Banner Elk; and Dorothy Scott and husband, Edward, of Vilas; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Russell Thomas. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 PM at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Derek Wilson and Rev. Eric Cornett. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1 until 2 o'clock, one hour prior to services, at Austin & Barnes. Burial will follow in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery. The family respectfully requests no food.
