Obituary of Mildred K. Combs

Mildred Kate Combs, age 71, of Heritage of Sugar Mountain, Newland, and a native and former resident of Watauga County, died Thursday morning, September 27, 2012 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital in Elizabethton, Tennessee. Born January 7, 1941, in the Green Valley Community, she was a daughter of Jessie Alvin and Lula Ella Farthing Combs. Mildred was a member of the Green Valley Baptist Church. She was a front desk manager for the former Cabana and Cardinal Motels in Boone.
Survivors include three children, Randy Greene and wife, Denise, of Westmoreland, Tennessee, Elaine Guy and husband, Randall, of Roan Mountain, Tennessee, and Michael Watson and fianc�, Kerry Ashley, of Elk Park; grandson, Christopher Greene of Wartburg, TN; granddaughter, Heather Guy of Gray, TN. and great-granddaughters, Makayla Greene of Westmoreland, TN; and Sierra Tester of Gray, TN. A number of great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by a son, Lee Alvin Greene and a sister, Boots Farthing Parker.
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday morning, September 29, 2012, at 11 o'clock at the Combs Family Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Tim Bunton.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
