William Thomas (Tom) Cottingham, Jr., 96, passed on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Cottingham was born in Douglas, GA to the late William Thomas Cottingham Sr. and Eula Newbern Cottingham on March 25, 1916.
Tom is survived by wife, Farrar Cottingham, his children Rev. Bill (and Jana Nichols)
Cottingham of Wilmington, NC, Sid (and Sally Cockrill) Cottingham of Douglas, GA, Virginia Cottingham of Boulder, CO, Dan (and Linda Crocker) Cottingham of Charlotte, NC, Jim (and Elizabeth Stanick) Cottingham of Douglas, GA, Frances (and Philip) Cottingham Kelly of Boulder, CO, brother-in-law Robert C. Stuart of Blacksburg, VA,
11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life and tree planting ceremony is planned for 2 o\\\'clock Sunday, September 30, 2012, at the Boone United Methodist Church with Rev. Jason Byassee officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Dress is casual.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be given to the Boone United Methodist Church, the Hospitality House of Boone, the Missions Outreach Fund of the First United Methodist Church of Douglas, GA, or the South Georgia College Foundation, Inc.
