Obituary of Clyde H. Hughes

Mr. Clyde H. Hughes, age 76, of Roaring Creek Road, Newland passed away Tuesday night September 4, 2012 at Johnson City Medical Center. Born February 29, 1936 in Avery County, he was a son of the late Jack and Hazel Oakes Hughes. Clyde was a retired heavy equipment operator and was working for Avery County Solid Waste. He was a member of Roaring Creek Freewill Baptist Church. He is survived by two sons; David Hughes and wife Wendy and Michael Hughes and wife Twila all of Newland, two sisters; Sandra Guinn and husband Jerry of Elk Park and Wanda Carpenter and husband James of Canton, Ohio, and six grandchildren; Savanna, Shianna, and Oakley Hughes, Peyton Hughes, Mackenzie and Hannah Mace. He was preceded in death by his parents; Jack and Hazel Oakes Hughes, one sister; Pauline Hughes, and two brothers; Curt and Michael Hughes. Funeral services for Mr. Clyde H. Hughes will be conducted Friday afternoon at 4 o\'clock at the Roaring Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Chris Hughes. Burial will follow in the Hughes Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday afternoon prior to the service from 3 o\'clock until 4 o\'clock at the Roaring Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
