Obituary of Hershel Greene

Mr. Hershel Greene, age 82, of Wilkesboro and Deep Gap, passed away Tuesday evening, February 4, 2014 at Watauga Medical Center. Born July 19, 1931 in Watauga County he was a son of the late Judson and Hettie Wellborn Greene. He was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church. Hershel was a cattle and timber farmer and co-owner of Millers Creek Lumber Company. He is survived by his wife Imogene Blackburn Greene, one son Alan Greene, two sisters, Bonita Stewart of Wilkesboro and Carolyn Austin of Boone, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Judson and Hettie Wellborn Greene and four brothers; Charles, Troy, Riley and Cline Greene. Funeral services for Mr. Hershel Greene will be conducted Saturday afternoon February 8, 2014 at 2 o�clock at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Wilkesboro. Officiating will be Rev. Rex Eldreth and Rev. Sherrill Wellborn. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from noon until 2 o�clock. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pilgrim Baptist Church Building Fund, 493 Pilgrim Baptist Church Road, Wilkesboro, NC 28697.
