John Landrine Eggers
Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) John Landrine Eggers, of Burke, Virginia, died Sunday morning, March 2, 2008, at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D. C. He was born in Boone, North Carolina, November 15, 1941, a son of the late Dr. Graydon P. Eggers, and Daisy Williams Eggers.
Colonel Eggers graduated from Appalachian High School in Boone, North Carolina, and held a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Davidson College. He held an M.S. degree in Organic Chemistry from Clemson University, and an M.S. degree in Management Information Systems from George Washington University. During his 24 years in the United States Army, Colonel Eggers had tours of duty in Viet Nam, Germany, Korea, Wake Island, various U. S. installations, and the Pentagon. He was a graduate of the Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and the Defense Management College, Fort Belvoir, Virginia. At the time of his death he was working as a management consultant specializing in cost analysis.
Colonel Eggers is survived by his wife of 44 years, Vivian Bullock Eggers; a daughter, Lisa Daimar Eggers, of Centreville, Virginia; a brother, Graydon P. Eggers, Jr., and wife, Carolyn A. Eggers of Boone, North Carolina; his mother-in-law, Margie C. Bullock of Georgetown, South Carolina; and an aunt, Mary Williams Taylor of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina.
Services will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at 9:00 AM at the Fort Myer (VA) Old Post Chapel. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Arlington National Cemetery.
