Mrs. Carol Ann Price Roark, age 69, of Snowdrift Lane, Boone, died Tuesday afternoon, February 28, 2012 at home following a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease. Born October 3, 1942 in Ashe County, she was a daughter of the late Glenn and Verna Price. She was retired from Carroll Leather Goods where she was a seamstress. Carol was an avid gardener and quilter and enjoyed reading. She is survived by two daughters; Melissa Miller and husband Paul of Cary, Amy Hopkins and husband Mitch of Winston-Salem, one son; Ritchie Roark and partner Robbie of Johnson City, Tennessee, two grandchildren; Trevor and Braxton Miller, four sisters; Glenda Bentley and husband John of Wilkesboro, Jean Colvard of Jefferson, Willa Trivette and husband Blaine of Trade, TN, Donna Copper and husband Ronnie of Volney, Virginia, three brothers; Doug Price and wife Linda of Jefferson, Doyle Price and wife Sheri of Morresboro, NC, and Rick Price and wife Kathi of West Jefferson, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ellis Roark and her parents Glenn and Verna Price. Funeral services for Mrs. Carol Ann Price Roark will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Virginia Peurifoy. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Church Street Station, PO Box 780, New York, New York 10008-0780. The family will receive friends Friday afternoon prior to the service from 12:30 until 2 o'clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
