Mrs. Grace Robinson Eggers, age 88, of Jakes Eggers Road, Vilas, died Monday evening (February 18, 2008) at Watauga Medical Center.
Born April 1, 1919 in Watauga County, she was a daughter of the late George W. and Drilla Wilson Robinson. She was a homemaker and wife of 35 years to the late Woodrow Eggers. She was a master quilter, enjoyed planting and harvesting her vegetable and flower gardens and was a lifelong member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, Vilas, NC.
Surviving are: one son, Jerry Shockley and wife Cathy of Fairview, NC; daughter-in-law, Caroline Barnes Shockley; a granddaughter, Melissa Shockley of Vilas; two grandsons, Marc Shockley of Fairview and David Shockley of Blowing Rock, two sisters, Helen Jean Senter of Morganton and Georgia Lewis of Asheville; one brother, Edward Robinson and wife Ruth of Charlotte; a sister-in-law, Jane Robinson of Boone, Two brothers-in-law, Joe Wilson of Vilas and Rev. Bobby Wallace of Bishopville, SC.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Woodrow Eggers, three sisters: Hazel Wilson, Chloe Hathcock and Barbara Ann Wallace; by her brother Kent Robinson and an infant brother, Blaine Robinson.
Services for Mrs. Grace Robinson Eggers will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 AM at Beaver Dam Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Carl Johnson and Rev. Bobby Wallace. Burial will follow in the Lower Beaver Dam Cemetery, Vilas.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel from 6 until 7:30 PM. At other times, friends may call at the home of Caroline Barnes Shockley, 1830 Beaver Dam Road, Vilas, NC.
