Mrs. Juanita Elizabeth Michael Farthing, age 92, formerly of Banner Elk, died Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Cape Fear Medical Center. Born August 17, 1919 in Watauga County, she was the daughter of the late James and Maude Ellen Greer Michael. Juanita was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and was retired from Appalachian State University. She is survived by one daughter; Marsha Calderon of Morganton, one grandson; Major Stephen Anthony Calderon and wife Cindy of Fayetteville, one granddaughter; Captain Shelia Burns and husband Kelly of Yelm, Washington, and one great grandson; Kaden Anthony Burns. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Marshall Farthing. Funeral services for Mrs. Juanita Elizabeth Michael Farthing will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o�clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home. Officiating will be Preacher Kenneth Banner. Entombment will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 12:30 until 2 o�clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
