Obituary of Chris Greer

December 25, 2011 Mr. Christopher �Chris� Greer, age 55, of North Street, Boone, died Sunday afternoon December 25, 2011 at Blowing Rock Hospital. Born November 7, 1956 in Watauga County he was a son of the late Winston Worth Greer and Ruth Whittington Greer. Chris graduated from Watauga High School and attended Berea College in Kentucky. He was a member of New Life Fellowship 7th Day Adventist Church where he was an ordained Deacon. Chris had a great love for music and sang with several groups and his church. He worked for many years at the Western Steer and Daniel Boone Inn. He is survived by his mother; Ruth Whittington Greer, one sister; Alma Greer Hatton and husband Rev. Morris Hatton, one brother; Virgil Greer, all of Boone, an Aunt; Naomi Whittington of Winston-Salem, two nieces and three nephews, and a number of cousins. Funeral services for Mr. Chris Greer will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o�clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Charles Hindman and Robert Collins. Burial will follow in the Clarissa Hill Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, in care of Kathy Idol, 8821 US Hwy 421 South, Deep Gap 28618.The family will receive friends Wednesday prior to the service from 12:30 until 2 o�clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
