Donald Everett Carter, age 92, of Bamboo Road, Boone, died Friday morning,
December 23, 2011 at the Watauga Medical Center. Born April 4, 1919 in Big Heart, Oklahoma, he was a son of Laurence and Lillie Elliot Carter. Mr. Carter was a pilot in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He retired as a building inspector for the school system in Florida.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Earline, in 2005.
Mr. Carter is survived by one daughter, Ruth Inman and husband, Richard, of Boone, and one son, Kenneth Carter of Oakland, California; brother, Ted Carter of Michigan; three grandchildren, Jeff Martin of Boone, Jennifer Johnson and husband, Mike Hambourger of Deep Gap, and Ryan Springer-Carter of Paso Robies, California; and one great-granddaughter, Emma Martin of Boone.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Earline Carter and two sisters.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday morning, January 4, 2012 at 11 o'clock at the New Home Baptist Church Cemetery in Titus, Alabama. Online condolences may be sent to the family at the website austinandbarnesfuneralhome.com
