Obituary of Jean S. Davis

Mrs. Jean South Davis, age 84, of NC Hwy 194 North, Boone, died Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at home. Born October 7, 1927 in Watauga County, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Larna Stephens South. Jean was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church and attended Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was retired from Belk�s where she worked as a buyer. She is survived by her children; Donna Cheek and husband Jerry; and Treva Isaacs and husband Doug all of Boone, Dale Davis and wife Brenda of Spruce Pine and Dan Davis of Lewisville, six grandchildren; Richard Cheek, Scott Cheek and wife Christy, Matthew and Brandon Isaacs, Seth and Shannon Davis, three great grandchildren; Patrick, Katie and Christian Cheek and a number of cousins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Walter Carroll Davis and a sister Ramona South. Funeral services for Mrs. Jean South Davis will be conducted Friday at 12 noon at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:30 until noon at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery.
