Obituary of Paul Brown

Mr. Paul Gray Brown, age 86, of US Hwy 421 North, Zionville, died Tuesday evening, November 8, 2011 at home. Born March 7, 1925 in Watauga County, he was a son of the late Dewitt and Bessie Moody Brown. Paul was a member and former Deacon at Cove Creek Baptist Church. He was the co-owner of Brown Brothers Construction and a real estate developer and a US Navy Veteran. Paul developed Roan Valley Golf Estates and the Shops on Shadowline. Mr. Brown was active in his community, serving on of the Watauga County Board of Education, the Johnson County Hospital Board, as President of the Johnson County Chamber of Commerce, Vice President of the Johnson County Tourism Board, Board of Directors of Mountain State Health Alliance, Johnson County Industrial Board, and the Johnson County Planning Commission. He is survived by four children; Keeta Norris and husband Baxter of Zionville, Neeta Hayden of Charleston, SC, Billie Jo Mains of Zionville, and Steve Brown and wife Yvonne of Zionville, seven grandchildren; Casey Miller and wife Carrie, Maryah Hayden, Michael Hayden, Brittnai Mains, Jeremy Mains, Candace Shultz and husband Kevin, and Ashley Brown, two step grandchildren; Alicia and Denver Elliott, five great grandchildren, one sister; Josephine Bingham, one brother; D. T. Brown, a special friend; Joy Thomas, two special caregivers; Dora Adams and Judy Cornett, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; Dewitt and Bessie Moody Brown and one sister; Billie Sutherland. Funeral services for Mr. Paul Brown will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o�clock at Cove Creek Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Dan Little. Military graveside rites by American Legion Post 130 and burial will follow at the Cove Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Appalachian Shrine Club, in care of Randy Vines, 1005 George Wilson Road, Boone, NC 28607 or to Medi Home Hospice, PO Box 1357, Newland, NC 28658 The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:30 until 9 o�clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
